Event Description

Tumbleweed Colony is a site-specific gathering and textile design installation by environmental fiber artist Abigail Doan. Creative contributors and sponsors include Sasha Duerr of the Permacouture Institute, Lily Piyathaisere from Gamma Folk, Arian Franz from The Greater Goods, Kathleen Dycaico from Gutter Rat Dyeing Co., data artist Annelie Berner, natural dye sponsor Botanical Colors and Forage + Sundry.

A unique desert/urban soundscape by multimedia artist Catherine Lauigan will be created for the the event.

Desert drifters meet urban gardeners in a saloon-bar created by Industry City Distillery and their craft spirits experimentation and SixPoint Brewery.

Open bar from 7-11PM with general admission.

Tumbleweed Colony supports the community outreach efforts of SEWING SEEDS.

SEWING SEEDS is a signature program of the Textile Arts Center, a NYC 501(c)3 organization, that provides accessible, accurate, and inspired information on natural dyes, to bring awareness for their use as a sustainable art medium.

All the proceeds from this event will go to the SEWING SEEDS program, which includes an art residency, free workshops and lectures, creation of natural dye gardens, and development of resources on natural dyes, such as maps, tutorials and instructions.
